What is Spilled Milk?
Since moving to Paris from Manila, one question has been on my mind: How does one build a home away from home? There are times when I feel like I’m still playing house, attempting to make sense of modern living while also enjoying what the city has to offer.
Spilled Milk is a weekly newsletter that covers topics I haven’t had the chance to explore in-depth for the publications I’ve written for. It’s also a space for unapproved pitches to find a second life. Expect pieces on culture, fashion, and whatever’s circulating in our group chats. You can also think of it as a very long text from a friend.

Free subscribers get an essay/report every two weeks.
Paid subscribers (under construction) receive an additional curation of unfiltered thoughts, personal recommendations, and how-tos—kind of like your Close Friends on Instagram.

A little about me
I’ve lived a few lives–magazine editor, project manager, journalist, digital strategist–but they all revolve around telling a story, which is really what I want to do at the end of the day. I’ve written for Vogue, PURVEYR, MEGA Magazine, and ArchiExpo’s e-magazine, to name a few publications, as well as for brands such as Hermès and Roger Vivier.
If you’re curious to see more of my work, you may view a selection of my published writing on my website. You can also reach me by sending an email to marellaricketts@gmail.com or by saying hello on Instagram or LinkedIn. 💌
Why the title?
